The Southeast Asian refugees left their homeland to escape political turmoil and suffering. Many did not survive the exodus. The ones who did, and made it to this country, are starting new lives in communities like lowell. In the world of refugees, "When you decide to escape, you decide to die. When you escape without death it's like being born again."
